Dacia has reached an important production milestone at the Mioveni factory, where the 8 millionth car has just been assembled. The jubilee model is the Bigster in a recognizable shade of indigo blue exterior.
Dacia’s factory in Mioveni is, without a doubt, the epicenter of the automotive industry in Romania. The factory was opened on August 20, 1968, when the Dacia 1100 model, produced under license from Renault R8, entered the assembly line.
The first three decades were dominated by the family of models developed under license from Renault 12, and here we are referring to the Dacia 1300/1310 and its derivatives. These models were produced between 1969 and 2006, with a “circulation” of almost 2.3 million units.

In 1985, Mioveni reached the milestone of one million cars produced, and 13 years later – two million vehicles. The reason is that in 1995, the factory near Pitești received a new generation of Dacia models, the less well-known Nova model. Based on that model, the SuperRNova and Solenza models were then developed.
The year 1999 is a new turning point for the Romanian factory, but also for the automotive industry in Romania. Then a new chapter in the history of Dacia was opened, with the takeover of the factory by the Renault group. In 2004, the Romanian manufacturer launched the Logan, a model that made Dacia visible on the international scene.
Over the past 57 years, six different Dacia model families have rolled off the factory assembly line. The production record belongs to Duster, which was assembled in 2.6 million units during three generations.

The milestone of five million vehicles produced in Mioveni was reached in 2014, and now, 11 years later, the milestone of eight million cars has been reached. The anniversary model is the Bigster. The customer opted for the top-level Journey equipment and, of course, the new Indigo Blue exterior color.
The Dacia factory in Mioveni has an area of 355,000 square meters, 6,850 employees and a daily production capacity of 1,357 vehicles. The share of exports is 90 percent.
